Job Summary
The Center of Online Learning at Columbus State University has an opening for an Instructional Designer and Training Specialist. This position provides consultation and support for the design of online programs and courses, with a focus on learner-centered, research-informed instruction and assessment. The incumbent will have a strong commitment to customer service and possess a level of self-efficacy in supporting the diverse online needs of faculty. This position reports directly to the Center Director.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to facilitating the development of engaging online course design and redesign using a variety of instructional design models, while tracking and providing updates on emerging trends in online learning; partnering with the departmental Accessibility Specialist to manage accessibility in online course development projects; providing course design review and feedback upon request; developing and delivering training and other learning opportunities in a variety of formats including face-to-face, online, and hybrid environments.

Other significant duties include assisting faculty with the creation or conversion of course materials for online delivery; providing consultation services for faculty on effective online course design strategies for online and hybrid courses; supporting faculty in the use of online teaching and learning technology; investigating and promoting emerging trends in instructional design and technology that supports teaching, learning, and research; supporting instructors in the review of their courses to ensure courses meet accessibility requirements, standards, and CSU guidelines; creating and editing media (video, audio, images, copywriting) to facilitate online and hybrid student engagement; and other duties as assigned by the Director.

Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, instructional technology, or related field; experience working with online learning management systems and online courses in higher education environments; an understanding of the principles and standards of instructional design and learning theory, online content authoring, and the development of training in higher education settings; and a demonstrated ability to apply technical, pedagogical, and consultative skills to understand, analyze and diagnose faculty/staff/student needs, and to translate those needs into instructional solutions.

The selected candidate must also have excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to work independently as well as in a group setting; experience using learning management systems and online learning technology like D2L Brightspace; knowledge of online course design, and best practices in online course content delivery; knowledge of Section 504 and 508 of federal standards, as well as WCAC guidelines and ADA compliance; experience designing and delivering training in a group setting; experience providing one-to-one consultation support to faculty and staff; knowledge of andragogy and pedagogy principles; knowledge of Quality Matters rubric standards; experience with learning objective development and alignment within an online setting; and creative problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include experience with audio and video editing, online teaching experience, and QM certification.

Proposed Salary
The annualized salary range for this position is $43,503 - $50,450 and includes full benefits.
