Division Descriptions: Adult Infusion / PedIatric Infusion

Division Descriptions: The UC Davis Medical Center Birthing Suites is a birthing center with facilities that can accommodate patients in various phases of delivery. Also available are operating rooms and recovery rooms permitting family access for instant bonding. A triage area and newborn nursery are also available. The University Womens Pavilion and Normal Newborn Nursery is a 24 bed unit which consists of ante partum, postpartum and medical surgical patients. The Normal Newborn Nursery has a 10 crib capacity; however, additional infants are accommodated due to the rooming-in policy. Infants remain in their mothers rooms after their initial assessment and bath.

Minimum Requirements: BSN required. Masters degree in nursing or related field preferred (masters degree may be in progress). Minimum of 5 years of labor and delivery experience preferred. Recent management experience preferred.

Responsibilities: The UWP/UBS provides care to perinatal, post natal, newborn nursery and medical surgical patients. The manager of this unit is responsible for 24 hour, seven/day week management and supervision of human and material resources needed for patient care delivery. This includes, but is not limited to operational and administrative management; financial management; personnel and resource management; continuous quality improvement; and program, system and employee development.

Requirements: Possession of valid California RN license. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Passing of UCDMC Performance Demonstrations, Policy Review and Medication Exam. CPR Certification.

Knowledge and skill to develop and maintain team effectiveness to maintain a work environment based on mutual respect. Advanced problem-solving skills. Effective oral and written communications skills. Tact and diplomacy skills to interact with a variety of individuals. Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective management and supervision. Knowledge of group process and ability to facilitate an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Ability to organize and prioritize. Knowledge and ability to participate in budget development and implementation of long range planning. Ability to motivate others in educational development and higher levels of work performance. Ability to develop new programs for specialty groups of patients with both UCDMC groups and community agencies. Ability to represent the University in a professional manner.
