The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, seek external funding, serve on committees at all levels of faculty governance, provide academic advising to students, chair and serve on thesis committees, and develop collaborative relationships within and outside the department, including community outreach. Primary teaching responsibilities and research interests will be in exercise science, to include two or more of the following: clinical exercise physiology, human anatomy, human physiology, biomechanics, athletic training, motor learning, health promotion/wellness, strength and conditioning, sport nutrition, body composition, statistics or research methods. Specific assignment will depend upon Department needs and priorities.

The Department of Kinesiology is in the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Fresno. The Department is one of the largest on campus and has approximately 1,100 undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Athletic Training. Undergraduate Kinesiology degree Options include Physical Education, Exercise Science, and Sport Administration. In addition, the Department has approximately 60 graduate students pursuing Master's degrees in Kinesiology with Options in Exercise Science, Sport Psychology, and Sport Administration. The faculty have been honored with numerous awards and recognitions in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service, come from diverse backgrounds, are student oriented, and are committed to maintaining a collegial working environment.

Required Education: An earned doctorate in Kinesiology or related discipline from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalent) is required: however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/13/2017).

Required Experience: Successful teaching experience in academic classes at the university level; and ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. For appointment at the level of Associate Professor, successful teaching at the graduate level, and professional and scholarly productivity commensurate with standards for promotion to Associate Professor at California State University, Fresno are required.

Preferred Qualifications (any one or combination of those listed below):
  1. Two or more years of successful, full-time teaching at the college or university level;
  2. Evidence of publications in scholarly journals
  3. Successful teaching experience at the graduate level;
  4. Success in seeking and/or acquiring external funding;
  5. American College of Sports Medicine certified, credentialed, and/or registered;
  6. Board of Certification, Inc. certification as an Athletic Trainer
  7. Other related and appropriate professional certifications and/or licenses;
  8. A history of active participation or leadership roles in related professional organizations;
  9. A history of practical experience in a broad variety of sports, athletics, or physical activities.
